Veneers

For patients that aren’t fully satisfied with their smiles, investing in veneers may be the best option. Veneers are porcelain shells that are custom-made to fit perfectly onto the surface of your natural teeth. They are permanently bonded to each individual tooth, leaving you with a smile that is not only perfect, but also permanent.
Porcelain veneers are used to mask dental imperfections of all kinds, from a small chip to an entire set of unusually shaped teeth. They are also a popular choice for patients wanting to whiten and brighten their smiles. If traditional teeth whitening methods don’t seem to work on your enamel, veneers can be a great alternative.

Cosmetic Use of Veneers

Veneers are highly versatile when it comes to their utility within cosmetic dentistry. They can be used to fix:

  • Chipped teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Pointed teeth
  • Discoloration
  • Unusually shaped teeth

And many more issues.

Process of Receiving Veneers

1
The process of receiving a set of veneers will take a series of appointments at the clinic. An initial consultation is needed to clarify your exact needs, followed by some oral X-rays and a review of your medical history. Your dentist will discuss treatment goals, aftercare tips, and other important details with you.
2
Then, the impressions of your teeth will be sent to an outside laboratory. They will be responsible for designing and manufacturing the veneers, staining them, and sending them back to us.
3
Once your teeth have been examined and are found to be healthy and cavity free, the dentist can proceed with the treatment. A layer of your enamel will be carefully shaved off, equalling in thickness to your veneers. This is performed under local anesthetic, completely numbing your teeth and gums for a pain-free procedure.
4
Then, your dentist will line up your veneers, and check one last time to make sure they fit your teeth perfectly. Finally, your veneers are individually bonded to your teeth using dental cement, a permanent binding agent.
How Long Will They Last?

How Long Will They Last?

Veneers will generally last between 10-15 years. A lot depends on how patients treat their new smile, and practicing good oral health habits can greatly extend their lifetime. Chewing on extremely hard surfaces like ice or fingernails is strongly discouraged, as it can create chips or cracks in veneers. Be sure to let your dentist know if you regularly grind your teeth at night. A night guard may be needed to help protect the veneers from damage.
